Homeless ex-con may get bed in Veteran's hospital (Sun-Sentinel)

The homeless man who served a prison sentence for the rape, stabbing and murder of 12-year-old Lisa Slusser of Waukegan, Ill., is in the main county jail but will be getting help from the Veteran's Administration, the public defender's office said.

Daddy/Daughter Dance: The Plainfield Park District will host its annual Daddy/Daughter Dance from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 26. The event for girls ages 3-10 (with an adult) will take place at Heri-tage Grove Middle School, 12425 S. Van Dyke Road. A DJ will play music, refreshments will be available, and photos will be taken.

Starting this June, area police officers, firefighter-paramedics and emergency management personnel can begin to earn a four-year bachelor's degree at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus, and get a portion of their tuition waived.
